A Joyful Lent ii - Spring cleaning the soul

As the days lengthen and the sun shines brighter, we suddenly notice cobwebs and dust lurking in the corners of our home. (Lent, in fact, comes from the Old English word Lencten, which – with its allusion to the lengthening days, meant Spring.) Spring cleaning is hard work, but there’s a great sense of lightness and freshness that follows on from clearing out the clutter and sweeping away the dust. The same goes for the soul. Take a look at your daily habits of life and find out where dust and clutter has accumulated. Is your life just too full? Is there something you could cut out for a while to make more room in your life for the things that matter? Limiting screen time on TV or Internet is a great refresher, for instance. Or where are the gifts that, for lack of time or inspiration, you have somehow stopped using? What is hidden in the forgotten corners that you might want to retrieve?
